You wear it well. Garry's back as Rod

Every picture tells a story and this one meant Rod Stewart tribute act Garry Pease could finally tell people he'd met his hero.

And you have to admit he wears it well.

Garry who brings his blockbusting show The RodStewart Experience back to the Ritz in Brighouse in December, not only looks but sounds like like the gravel-voiced Scotsman who has been at the top of his game since the 1960s.

Garry’s chance meeting came on the ITV lunchtime programme Loose Women last year when he was one of three Rod tribute acts who performed. And Sir Rod (as he recently became) was in the studio too.

According to Garry he got the chance to chat to Rod after the show when the former Faces frontman’s car was late picking him up.

And he said now when people ask him if he’s met Rod he can finally say yes.

Billed as the UK and Europe’s number one tribute to Rod, Garry produces an all action, non-stop show breezing through his back catalogue from early Faces numbers right up to the Old American Songbook.

And somewhere in between he’ll be tackling all Rod’s old favourites from Handbags & Gladrags to This Old Heart of Mine and Maggie May to You’re In My Heart with a touch Sailing and The First Cut Is The Deepest thrown in for good measure.

The evening has everything you would expect – superb showmanship, audience participation and superb songs belted out in exactly the same style as Rod Stewart – in fact, it’s exactly what a Rod Stewart act should be.

As well as Loose Women Garry has been on ITVs Stars And Their Doubles with other appearances on the BBC, MTV, Sky and a Pulp Music Video.

“Garry is an exceptional act,” said Ritz owner Glenn Smith. “Everybody loved him the last time he was here so we hope they’ll turn out to see him again. And he’ll have a full band backing him.”

lRod Stewart who is now 71 was born in Highgate, London in 1945.

He made his name with Faces after being part of The Jeff Beck Group, Shotgun Express and Steampacket.

He forged his solo career in the 1970s and had the first of a string of number ones with Maggie May back in September 1971.

Other chart toppers include You Wear It Well, Sailing, I Don’t Want To Talk About It, Baby Jane and of course Da ‘Ya’ Think I’m Sexy?
