Everybody wants more of Oliver!

Southgate Drama Group is hoping audiences will want more when it performs Lionel Bart's musical adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic Oliver.

The show runs from January 20-23 at Southgate Methodist Church, Elland.

The popular musical centres on a young boy Oliver (Taylor Baimbridge/Grace Shepherd) and follows his journey from being an orphan to finding his place in the world. Featuring all Dickens’ famous characters including Mr Bumble (Jim Paton) and the domineering Widow Corney (Wilma Paton), Dodger (Deanna Dixon) andFagin (Graham Alsancak), the leader of a group of child pickpockets.

As Oliver is plunged into the dark criminal world of London, he comes across the notorious Bill Sykes (Craig Tucker) and his girlfriend Nancy (Sophie Goldthorpe/Cheryl Tucker). Caught between a criminal life and the hope of a better one with Mr Brownlow (Andrew Jacobs), the story of ‘Oliver!’ comes to a climatic ending. The show includes the wonderful songs Consider Yourself, Pick A Pocket and Food Glorious Food!

Tickets are on sale now and can be bought in advance from Bramleys Estate Agents, Victoria Road, Elland. They are prices at £8 (£9 on the door) for adults and £6 (£7 on the door) for U16s. Evening performances from 7:15pm. and the Saturday matinee at 2:15pm.
