Spence leaves Old Crossleyans

Old Crossleyans are now looking for a player-coach or coach after releasing Neil Spence, who has coached the Broomfield club for the last two seasons.

Following their relegation from North One East, the club has decided that change is necessary and they are seeking someone to bring in new methods and ideas.

Howard Cooper, the club’s Director of Rugby, said: “it was a difficult decision to make, but the club must come first and after a disappointing season, change is necessary for us to take the club forward.”

He praised the attitude and commitment of Spence, a former Premiership forward who had made an occasional appearance in the Crocs side.

Calderdale has six rugby union clubs and Crocs are the third of them to part with their coach.

Kevin Plant stepped down at Heath and Damian Ball at Old Rishworthians. Dave Harrison, a former Twickenham winner with Heath, is the new head coach at the North Dean club.
