Stainland Lions take part in COVID-19 friendly Castle Hill Challenge

A team of six Stainland Lions raced in Saturday’s Castle Hill Challenge, an exciting new race specifically designed to be Covid-compliant.

The challenge was for teams to set off from the race headquarters at Armitage Bridge in Huddersfield and, using any route they could work out, visit Victoria Tower at the top of Castle Hill and the Golden Cock pub in the centre of Farnley Tyas.

The Lions’ team of David Collins, Fraser Ambrose, Michelle Rushby, Dick Dunn, Paul Corns and navigator Roy Lunt chose a scenic route with a mixture of road and trail and finished in twelfth place overall.

Teams set off at five minute intervals and were easily able to keep apart from other teams on the course because each team was using a slightly different route.

Result: Team Lions on the Loose 1:01:42.
