"We want to keep the momentum going" - Assistant manager Cooper on Shaymen's home game with Hartlepool

The Shaymen made it three in a row with Saturday's 2-1 win against Kidderminster, bouncing back from their previous outing which saw them crash out of the FA Cup against Marine.

Town go into the game occupying the final play-off place and having finally secured another home win after a run of seven appearances at The Shay without victory.

"I think it's an exciting game, it's a good game to have on a Tuesday night," Cooper told the Courier.

"I know they'll bring a decent support but we know we want to back-up an opportunity to go four (wins) on the bounce in the league, which is absolutely superb.

"That's what all the focus will be on.

"We know the threats they have, we know the style of manager and what a superb manager he's been, so we're under no illusions that it's a really tough task.

"They're a team that can hurt anyone on their day and they've shown that in some of their results, although they've had hiccups and bumps in the road so we want to try and exploit that.

"We hope Saturday breeds more confidence in the players, we hope the league table and the energy and organisation we had will give people confidence to get behind us.

"One thing for sure is that we'll be going out to be on the front-foot and put in a performance that backs up what we did on Saturday.

"We want to keep the momentum going."

Town's win over Kidderminster was an unconvincing one, with plenty of room for improvement remaining from the performance.

"The result ultimately is everything," Cooper said.

"We want the performance to match as well, but the expectation on us on Saturday was for us to get a result, and we did.

"We'd love to get the fans behind us on Tuesday night and go again, and back it up, and try to create an atmosphere that we can really thrive under, and get back-to-back home wins.

"I remember last season I think we did six on the bounce at home, not too far off this stage last season, and there was an air of confidence about us.

"First and foremost, I guess it doesn't matter how they come, the result is the be-all and end-all of how you're judged and we'll be working to try and get that."

Questions remain over Halifax's effectiveness as an attacking force, despite Town scoring twice in each of their last four league games.

"I feel playing the two up top helped us, helped us get bodies around Aaron (Cosgrave), who I thought started really strongly, holding the ball up but he's also got the speed to get in-behind," Cooper said.

"The wing-backs, we just needed to work on getting them higher, which was something we identified before and will keep pushing for, and when that happened, both goals came from deliveries from wide areas.

"It's not a back five, they have the licence to go and attack, knowing that you have someone like Jack Hunter who can cover space and protect behind them.

"I thought we were more of an attacking threat (on Saturday) than we have been and long may that continue.

"We've got two goals in each of the last three league games, which isn't to be sniffed at.

"We just want to continue the trend now.

"The deliveries into the box were excellent, Max put a great one in for Aaron towards the end that could have made it more comfortable, but couldn't quite get his toe on it.

"We need to be more of an attacking threat, I think that's quite clear, but I think we've had more threat than in previous home games, which is a positive."
