Junior club gets cash boost from foundation

The club, based at Carr Green Lane, has been chosen to be awarded the money from the Football Foundation for a new football pavilion. The club secured planning permission for the clubhouse in 2013.

In total it has awarded grants worth £7 million from the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund. This will support 88 grassroots facility projects across the country, worth £31 million.

Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive of the Premier League, said: “Through the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund, the Premier League continues to invest in grassroots football and in doing so lays the foundations for the future development of football in England. Our commitment to the grassroots game is unprecedented and unparalleled‎ with hundreds of millions of pounds being invested by us into the game which benefits communities across the county.

“Thanks to the outreach work of professional clubs, not only do the facilities help to improve the experience of grassroots football, but they also promote good health, educational opportunities and social cohesion. We want to encourage as many people as possible to get themselves involved in the game, and with professional clubs, schools and casual players enjoying the excellent facilities the Premier League helps fund, we will achieve that aim.”

Funded by the Premier League, The FA, and the Government, via Sport England, the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund is delivered by the Football Foundation, the country’s largest sports charity.

The investment will help develop new sports facilities, such as floodlit third-generation (3G) artificial grass pitches (AGPs) and modern changing rooms, right across the country (see Notes to Editors for full list of grant awards.
