All National League fixtures have been cancelled, but there is still a possibility that the end-of-season play-offs will take place, with The Shaymen set to compete in them.

But that now seemingly depends on what the Football League do with their season, with any decision by the National League on hold until that is announced due to the number of teams promoted from the National League hinging on how many places there are available in League Two.

The National League board has not yet ruled out the possibility of expunging all results and following the same pattern as steps three to seven of the non-league system.Any decision is not expected until next week at the earliest.

Wild said: “We’re nowhere nearer anything. It’s becoming frustrating for the club, for the players, for the fans, for the staff.

“We’re actually at a disadvantage at the moment because we’ve done well, because other clubs are getting their house in order ready for next season and we’re just waiting to see what happens.

“We’re ultimately being penalised for doing well.

“We’ve got a lot of things, as a football club, pending on what happens, and we don’t know on anything, which is very frustrating.

“I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen.

“The board meeting has been put back until next week but what that means, your guess is as good as mine.
“I think in the next seven days, the whole country’s hopefully going to find out more about what’s going on.

“As a nation, we all like to know where we stand at every point of every day, and I think what’s probably most frustrating for the British public at the moment is, nobody knows where they stand.”

If the play-offs do go ahead, Wild insists there should be two promotion places at stake.

“As far as I’m concerned there should be two places available because that’s what the league rules state, and to break those rules can only put the National League’s presence and stature back in the pecking order,” he said.

“It fought for so long to get those two places and, in some respects there should be three, but to not take that entitled place up this year would be of detriment to the league.”

Wild says he is still planning for there to be play-offs, whenever that may be.

“Until I’m told otherwise, there’ll be play-offs. When I’m told otherwise, I’ll move forward.

“As I’ve done throughout this whole pandemic, I’ll follow the facts. That’s all you can do.

“Opinion’s got to be taken out of it.”

On rumours that there could be no National League football until January next year, Wild said: “I haven’t thought that far ahead. As far as I’m concerned, the new season will kick off on August 8.
“Until that changes we’ll all work to those time-frames and if that changes, I’ll change tack.”
