FC Halifax Town: Nantwich preview

The Shaymen hold a 4-2 first-leg lead thanks to goals from Jordan Burrow, Scott McManus and Waide Fairhurst, and have since drawn 0-0 at Torquay in the league.

It will be Town’s first home game since drawing 0-0 with Gateshead in the last round of the Trophy on February 27, with Halifax losing only one of their last 12 home outings.

Town don’t have any injury concerns ahead of the tie, although Billy Whitehouse has now returned to parent club Doncaster after his loan spell at Halifax.

Town have already earned £26,000 in prize money from the FA Trophy so far this season.

If they reach the final, that total will rise to at least £67,000, reaching £117,000 if they win the competition.

Nantwich beat Ramsbottom 4-1 in midweek, with their defeat to Halifax their only loss in their last eight matches.

Away goals do not count in the FA Trophy, so a two-goal winning margin for Nantwich would mean the tie would go to extra-time then penalties.

The last time a two-goal lead from an FA Trophy semi-final first-leg was overturned was in 1983 when Telford lost 2-0 at home to Harrow Borough before winning the second-leg 5-1 and going on to win the final.
