FC Halifax Town: Burrow calls for same again in second-leg against Nantwich

Burrow scored twice in the first-leg last Saturday as Town put one foot into the final at Wembley and the striker is calling for The Shaymen to approach the second-leg with the same attacking attitude.

“It was a good performance,” he said. “We started the game well, which was important.

“We got a nice early lead which settled everyone down a bit.

“To score four goals away from home is pleasing. It was disappointing to concede late on but it was a good team performance and if you’d said you’re going to go into the second-leg with a two-goal lead everyone would have taken it.

“We’ve got to have the same mindset going into the next game.

“It’s going to be tough again but we’ve got to start well and get another result.”

Burrow was grateful for the presence of Waide Fairhurst alongside him in attack last Saturday, and felt he linked up well with the former Macclesfield forward, who was also among the scorers.

“It was nice to have someone like Waide in and around me to give me a bit of support and someone I could link up with,” he said.

“That meant we could get hold of the ball a bit more up-front because there were two of us up there.

“We set up a bit more attacking, which you’re always going to be happy with as a striker because there’s going to be more chances to score.”

Burrow, who netted six goals in his first seven games, is now targeting another purple patch of form after ending his month-long run without a goal last Saturday.

“That’s 16 for the season now which is a good return,” he reflected.

“I know I’d not scored for a while but I think that’s been down to the way we’ve been playing, we’ve been setting-up pretty defensive to stay in games, which has been working.

“It was nice to get the goals and hopefully I can get a few more between now and the end of the season.

“I still feel like my performances have been good. I’ve been up there on my own a bit which is not being detrimental to anyone, it’s just the way it’s been because we’ve had to be solid and grind results out.

“Every striker will tell you that you can’t let it affect you but I’m always confident that if I do get the chances then I’ll score.

“I’ve had a few chances over the past few weeks which haven’t gone in but if I keep putting myself in the right situations and I keep getting the right service I’m confident I’ll score.

“I’ve got 16 goals already which maybe speaks for itself a bit.

“It’d be nice to go on a run now. We’ve still got loads to play for in the league and the cup.”
