Man of the match

Scott Garner; he has impressed all season, getting quietly on with his job and steadying his less reliable teammates.

Moan of the match

Where to start? An unbalanced midfield and a lack of support for Tom Denton up front contributed a lot to a match totally devoid of football. Stalybridge were there for the taking, but our half-hearted approach came close to costing us. People shouldn’t be paying good money to watch dross, and this needs sorting out quick! The players seem to have no idea what they are trying to achieve.

Connor Hughes hitting an obviously pointless shot well wide from 30 yards. It sort of summed things up.

Steve Drench looked assured all afternoon. Made the right decisions at the right time.

Should have been out of sight at half time. Only a single goal from four big chances before the break. Must do better, definitely the worst win of the season.

Moment of the match

Stalybridge somehow hit the inside of the post on 29 minutes with the score still nil-nil. Bad miss, even my cat would have hit the target. Big let off for the Shaymen.
