Bridge hit back to win Shield

They beat Booth by 19 runs in a low scoring Foster’s Halifax League second teams’ final at Sowerby St Peter’s.

Man of the match Jonathan Bullick made 49 and young Shahzaib Rauf an invaluable 25 towards the end of the innings as Bridge were dismissed for 128.

Experienced Ian Sharkey’s four for 22 was the pick of the Booth bowling figures followed by his son Sam’s two for 23.

Bridge skipper Russell Bland had no option but to attack in defence of what appeared a below-par score and Booth contributed to their own downfall with a couple of run outs.

Progress was very slow and three early wickets put Booth on the back foot.

Jack Heptinstall crashed a couple of big sixes and Matthew Lumb also made 20 but that was as good as it got for Booth, whose firsts had lost to Jer Lane in the Parish Cup final the previous week.
