Updated: Driver taken to hospital after car crashes into wall

A motorist has been taken to hospital after a car collided with a wall in Todmorden this afternoon (Monday).

Police, fire crews and an ambulance were called to the scene at 2.22pm after the Volkswagen Scirocco crashed into a wall on Shaw Wood Road.

The female driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode at the wheel. She has been taken to hospital for treatment.

Firefighters attended to cut the roof off the car to allow the woman to be removed from the vehicle.

A police spokesman said the woman appeared to be uninjured as a result of the collision, which occurred at low speed.

The Volkswagen was the only vehicle involved in the incident.

Shaw Wood Road is expected to re-open by 6pm.

Any witnesses, either the car prior to the collision or the incident itself, are urged to call 101 and ask for PC Matthew Judge, of the Western Area Roads Policing Unit.
