Child hit by bus in Mytholmroyd - police close major route through village

The incident happened on Burnley Road, near to Calder High School, at 8.31am.

The girl was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with head injuries.

The girl, who the school confirmed attends Calder High, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Police confirmed she was conscious and breathing at the scene.

Her injuries were not thought to be serious and she has since been discharged from hospital.

Police were at the scene for several hours carrying out investigation work and enforcing a road closure.

The road closure was in place on the A646 Burnley Road between the Brier Hey Lane and Ewood Drive junction, with traffic diverted via Midgley Road.

The road has since re-opened.
