It promises to be a fantastic event and there will hundreds of people around the town in full Victorian costume, embellished with weird and wonderful gadgets and gizmos.

The whole town is getting involved, with a film at the Picture House on the Saturday night, a time machine at Hebble End, plus much more.

Organisers were inspired by the Haworth Steampunk Weekend last November and thought a similar event would work just as well in Hebden Bridge.

It’s hoped that shops, pubs and cafes across the town will throw themselves into the spirit of the event by gettting dressed up and creating window displays.

Chris and Mick at The Barn will be doing a window display and offering a 10 per cent discount to people in Steampunk costume and Heather Wilson at the Heart Gallery will sell sumptuous costume, corsets and mad hats.

There will also be a two day Steampunk market at Holme Street Arts Centre and two nights of Steampunk bands, including Drun Machine, BB Blackdog and Biscuithead and Biscuitbadgers, at the Trades Club. Advance tickets for both nights are available at www.tradesclub.com
