Robbery at Halifax jewellers in broad daylight
Officers were called to Kingston Diamond Merchants on Old Market Street at 12.20pm today (Tuesday).
Witness Tracey Brocklebank, 53, said: “You knew something was going on when you heard the tyres screech.

Hide Ad“It’s a really strange thing to happen at this time of day in town.”
A woman who worked in a nearby shop, who asked not to be named, said: “There were 50 people gathered on the street after it happened – I don’t know the last time I saw this much going on in Halifax.
“When I saw the police outside with machine guns I thought ‘oh my god!’”
Other witnesses said the whole situation appeared to be over in seconds and were not aware anything had happened until they heard a getaway car speed off.

Hide AdThe robbery is the second at a jewellery shop in Calderdale within a week after Duranczyk T&G in Hebden Bridge was targeted on Friday.
A police spokesperson said that no one was injured in the incident.
Officers and crime scene investigators are currently at the scene.
