Pub success to inspire others

The Beck Real Ale House, Brighouse, is set to host the latest in Business for Calderdale’s series of talks by leading business figures in the region.

Landlord Adrian Whitworth took the reins of the pub in October 2013, and has seen great success in a sector which has seen decline over the past decade.

On Tuesday, May 13, guest speaker Matthew Turner will deliver an inspirational talk and interview Adrian about the success story of the Real Ale market and his extraordinary career which has seen him transported from the West End stage to behind the bar of a thriving Real Ale pub.

Originally from Halifax, Adrian lived in London from the age of 18 through to 27 and was a stage manager working in the West End and travelling around the UK and Europe with productions.

Following in his parents’ footsteps, Adrian worked for pub chain Wetherspoons and he discovered Real Ale.

Moving back to West Yorkshire he gained experience in Real Ale pubs and The Beck is the fourth pub he has taken on in landlord capacity.

Matthew works with businesses to discover, create and share their ‘brand story’ - helping them build stronger and more loyal relationships with their customers.
