Apprentices are key to future
Chuka Umunna MP took a tour around Design Glass in Albion Mills and how it is innovating an old craft.
In the run up to the General Election the shadow secretary will be talking to businesses and locals about how Labour can take Britain’s economy forward and create more high-skilled, high paid jobs of the future.

Hide AdOne of the key policies is enabling more and better apprenticeships.
“One thing we need to do is make teenagers aware of the opportunities and different options as a lot are pushed down the route of going to university. Speaking to the apprentice here it is the first time I have heard that a school spoke about apprenticeships and the options available,” he said.
Mr Umunna said that the snobbery surrounding apprentices needs to be removed and businesses should be educated in how they can benefit.
