Lizzie Jones is a rugby league heroine and inspirational Halifax mum-of-two, who was awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace this year. The sporting soprano Mrs Jones, 35, was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to Rugby League and charity, after founding the Danny Jones Defibrillator Fund - set up in 2015 following the untimely death of her husband. The Orielles are an indie rock band from Halifax. The band features Sidonie 'Sid' B. Hand-Halford on drums, Esmé Dee Hand-Halford on bass and vocals and Henry Carlyle Wade on guitar and vocals. Writer Sally Wainwright (centre), creator of a number of much-loved television series, was given the freedom of the borough in March. She is the creator of the 2019 HBO and BBC One television series Gentleman Jack starring Suranne Jones as Anne Lister and Sophie Rundle as Ann Walker.
