Le Tour: Mytholmroyd businesses get ready for the boom

Local businesses have gone all-out in preparation of the Tour de France.

Mytholmroyd businesses have been planning this day for months and now it’s full steam ahead to make it a successful day for them and their customers.

Staff at the Dusty Miller Pub are getting ready for what they expect to be an avalanche of customers and are warming up for a long day of pint pulling for the punters.

Barmaid Julie Asquith, pictured with her grandson Harvey behind the bar, said the pub has drafted in all its staff members and friends and family to help with the surge of customers.

It’s already been a busy morning at the pub where they’ve been serving bacon and sausage butties to hundreds of people. The pub is serving take-out coffees and teas and there’s a bouncy castle for the children to enjoy after all the fun of the race.

Staff at Sainsbury’s Local, Bridge End, said it’s already been a busy morning on a day like no other.

Northernroots hair salon, New Road, opened its doors at 6am to serve teas and coffees and offer children’s face painting.

Mytholmroyd’s White Ribbon Campaign, on New Road, is opening its doors from 12-2pm to the public in search of a higher race viewing point.

The Co-operative is hosting a whole load of fun and games for visitors today.
