‘I’m the man to walk 1,000-miles’
David Fotheringham, 36, of Savile Park, Halifax, is so inspired by the work of Ravenscliffe High School, Halifax, staff during employment visits he wanted to do something to help the special school achieve their dream to build a new £3m sixth form and community centre at nearby Spring Hall.
Lloyds Banking Group employee and Scotsman David is a fan of the band Proclaimers and that’s where the idea to walk 1,000-miles was born.

In nine months, David has lost an impressive seven-stone and now weighs 17-stone.
“The challenge combines two great elements - I’m losing weight and getting fitter and I’m raising money for fantasic kids andan inspiring school.
“If you’d have said I would be doing this a year ago I wouldn’t have believed you. I love walking now.”
