Of course we couldn’t do a list with everyone who is famous who has lived in the borough, but here are some people you know – and some you may be surprised to know - lived, worked or was born in Calderdale.
5. Embrace, Bailiff Bridge
English rock band began in a small outbuilding at the bottom of a garden in Bailiff Bridge in 1990 by brothers Danny and Richard McNamara. The group has seven studio albums and performed at the Piece Hall last year.
6. Percy Shaw, Halifax
The man behind the reflective road stud or cats eye, Percy Shaw, was born in Halifax and lived at Boothtown. In 2005, he was listed as one of the 50 greatest Yorkshire people in a book by Bernard Ingham.
7. Sally Wainwright, Sowerby Bridge
With several popular television shows all set in Calderdale, screenwriter and director Sally Wainwright has used her experiences growing up in Sowerby Bridge in her work, including BBCs Happy Valley.
8. Keith Emerson, Todmorden
