Looking forward to the Carnival

Todmorden Carnival Queen 2016 Claire Ashworth and Princesses Olivia Whittaker and Ella Pollard visited Calderbank Nursing Home, Todmorden, last Sunday to meet oldest resident Dorothy Fiddling, 96.

The Queen and Princesses are looking forward to this year’s carnival on Saturday, May 28, with the parade leading Sanworth Street at 12.30pm, making its way up Halifax Road, through Todmorden town centre and along Burnley Road to the Centre Vale Park showground. The theme is Children’s Storybook Characters, with prizes for decorated float, decorated bike, foot tableaux, fancy dress and tug-of-war - teams from Todmorden Labour Party and Todmorden Conservative Party are in for the latter, could you challenge them (you just need a team of eight)? - plus other onfield entertainment and stalls. More on how to enter at www.todmordencarnival.com

Pre-day tickets are £1 (from Todmorden News Centre or Abdul’s Newsagents, Halifax Road), on the day adult tickets are £4 (£3 for children and OAPs). The funfair will run from Thursday, May 26.
