Rob and Pat Brooks, from Liversedge, will be watching the Grand Depart at Blackley Hill after going to Leeds yesterday for the first day of this year’s race.

Rob, himself a keen cyclist, said: “We’ve been to Paris twice to watch the finish and there ware just as many people watching it here.

“It’s fantastic that it’s happening in Yorkshire - you have to keep pinching yourself.

“It’s a massive event in France but it’s really caught on here too.

“We didn’t actually see any of the race yesterday but we’ll see them going by up to the hill.”
