Le Tour: Peloton gone in 60 seconds but excitement remains in Hebden Bridge

The peloton may have passed by in under a minute but the atmosphere that it brought with it remains in Hebden Bridge, as spectators head to Calder Holmes Park to continue the festivities.

Hundreds of people lined the streets in Hebden Bridge to witness ‘a once in a lifetime’ opportunity.

The race passed by after 1.30pm and soon after the crowds lined the roads making their way to watch the remainder of stage two of the Tour de France.

Simon belt got a front row seat on Burnley road for the race.

“It was absolutely brilliant. The market town of Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, was at the centre of the Tour de France,” he said.

Other spectators travelled far and wide to get a glimpse of the best cycling race in the world.

Yvone Cawley, who travelled from Derbyshire, said: “There is such a buzz about and it is great. The opportunity to see it was too good to miss.”

The rest of stage two will be put up on the big screen in Calder Holmes Park for the rest of the day.
