Le Tour: Cavendish ruled out with injury

Spectators lining the route in Calderdale will not catch a glimpse of Mark Cavendish as the British cycling star has been ruled out of the Tour de France after dislocating his shoulder in a crash during yesterday’s stage one.

Cavendish collided with Simon Gerrans during the sprint near the end of the stage in Harrogate.

In addition to the shoulder injury, he also suffered ligament damage.
