Le Tour: Businesses gearing up for busy day

Businesses in West Vale are gearing up for what could be their busiest day of the year as the Tour de France comes to town.

The Tasty Bite Deli was serving bacon butties as early as 7am this morning and is hoping for a busy day serving thousands of visitors who will come to see the Grand Depart.

Owner Julie Richards was up at 4.45am this morning to prepare for the big day.

She said: “There’s been such a big build-up to it but it’s just the sense of the unknown about how it’s going to go and how many people will turn up.

“It’s just a one-off but it’s going to be great.

“We’re having a barbecue round the back of the shop with a seating area and we’re serving breakfast upstairs in the cafe.

“We’ve also got the big screen right opposite the shop so we can watch ourselves on telly!”
