'It's surreal that I died': Man's story after Queensbury stabbing

An aspiring actor said he died and was brought back to life by a specially trained paramedic after being stabbed last month.

Taylor Wells, 23, spoke about the 'surreal' moment a paramedic saved his life after he had been stabbed in the heart and lung at his friend's flat on Sand Beds in Queensbury.

Mr Wells said: "Jake was seriously cut on his face, while Olivia was left seriously bruised after the attack.

"I was stabbed in the outer casing of my heart and my lung was punctured.

"During the incident, the front door, which is the only way out of the flat, was locked.

"At the time I didn't know I was seriously injured so I ran upstairs and jumped out of the skylight to get help.

"I went to a shop below the flat and told staff members what happened and fainted.

"I didn't know if my friends were still alive."

Mr Taylor was told that he was put in an ambulance, and would found out how close he came to losing his life.

He said: "I was operated on in the ambulance by a paramedic who was trained in open heart surgery.

"I only came round five days later in Leeds General Infirmary on July 26.

"When I came to, I was told that I had died. It's surreal and I I feel very lucky to be alive."

Mr Wells said the paramedics had to break his sternum and put two drains into his chest on the way to LGI.

The sustained injuries have left him with scars across and down his chest, while his friend Mr Oldfield has been left with a permanent scar on his left cheek.

Since the incident, Mr Wells and his two friends have said they have been deeply affected by what happened.

The aspiring actor, who is studying to be an actor at Bradford School of Creative Arts, said his dreams of starring on the silver screen have been dashed by the incident after he being left with the scars.

"We're mentally suffering a lot," he said.

"None of us are able to sleep and we've all said we keep having flashbacks.

"My two friends have moved out of that flat now and I'm currently living with my parents.

"I've had to leave my job working at Deichmann shoe shop in Bradford's Broadway Shopping Centre. I'm not able to lift anything due to my injuries.

"The three of us [Olivia and Jacob too] are not in any stable financial position."

A GoFundMe page has been set up to financially assist the three victims.

An 18-year-old man, Leon Dowbenko, of Fairfax Road in Bradford, has been charged with attempted murder.

A trial date at Bradford Crown Court has been set for August 21.
