Halifax town hall to host poppy exhibit to mark Armistice centenary
The Armistice of November 11, 1918 was the agreement that ended fighting on land, sea and air in World War I between the Allies and Germany.
Organiser Marilyn Greenwood hopes the project will become the biggest UK exhibition of poppies ever.

“They could be knitted, croshetted, moulded from clay, a collage, worked metal, whittled wood, casted plaster, embroidered, a painted picture, a great photograph or made of paper, papier mache, any fabric or even a dried flower.
She added: “The Piece Hall will be doing something, and the business development people at the council will be encouraging shops to decorate windows appropriately, so we hope that visitors will walk through the town centre from the Piece Hall to the exhibition and see lots of bunting and decorations.
“It’s important that it’s a commemoration rather than a celebration. We shouldn’t forget anyone who died or suffered in that or any other war. It’s something we must never forget.”
