Group set to swing into action
The group has been successful in bids to SITA, the landfill communities fund, and the Tesco Local Community Grants Fund had been successful.
The SITA funding will go towards a new cycle track and zipwire at Carr Green Recreation ground, whilst the Tesco funds will go towards the refurbishment of Thornton road play area on the Field Lane estate.

Hide AdLynne Mitchell, a local resident and treasurer of the group said: “These successful, applications are a huge boost to our fundraising.
“We’ve got almost enough now to do something on all four sites, however, if we could also raise some funding locally, we could do a lot more, and make sure each site has something for everyone”.
The money is in addition to £40,000 that was received from Rastrick Big Local, and efforts are ongoing to raise even more, from other grant funders, and local fundraising.
‘Rastrick Pays Better’ is a partnership of local residents, local schools, Calderdale Council and Pennine housing who have come together with the support of ‘Your Back Yard’, a local community regeneration company, to improve parks and play areas in Rastrick.

Hide AdTony Mullin, from ‘Your Back Yard’ said: “We are really enjoying working with ‘Rastrick Plays Better’, and in particular on supporting them in their efforts to raise more funding.
“Most funders however want to see evidence that local people are contributing too, so a few donations from the local households can go a long way to ‘unlocking’ bigger sums from grant funding bodies.”
* Should there be more support for recreation areas and parks in Brighouse?
