Grants give boost to Rastrick projects

The Rastrick Big Local Partnership Small Grant Fund Panel has approved the money to help deliver schemes in the ward.

Community enterprise Love Bread has been given £1,500 for its Rastrick Bake Local project.

It will offer free baking workshops for pairs to encourage community participation and development of new skills with a safety net of a known friend or relative.

Rastrick Tennis Club will use £1,200 to provide an opportunity for children and young people aged six to 16-years-old to learn to play and enjoy tennis, a sport for all ages and abilities.

Youngsters at St Mathew’s Scouts will soon have new patrol tents thanks to their £1,500 grant.

The money will be used to replace tents which are at the end of their useful years and new camping equipment will be provided to enable young people to experience camping out, developing new skills and build self-esteem.

The Unknown Becomes Known project by the Annapurna Dance has received a boost to the sum of £685.

The World War One project highlights the importance of the valuable contribution from undivided India to Britain, to celebrate diversity in British heritage and shared history of positive involvement of Asian communities with the empire.

Carr Green and Woodside Primary schools will take part in a range of accessible workshops using Asian music, literacy, songs, poetry and movements and stories.

The Schools Out Scheme will purchase three iPads to enhance the IT levels in children during pre-school, after school and holiday activities.

Teenie Tennis Kids has been provided £1,000 for Rastrick Tennis Tots’, which is an eight week parent and toddler tennis programme for pre-school children in Rastrick (aged two and over ) for children to learn and develop their agility, balance and coordination.
