Former Calderdale mayor banned for drink-driving

A former Mayor of Calderdale has been disqualified for drink-driving.

Calderdale councillor Ann McAllister, 63, was found to be three times the drink drive limit when she was apprehended by police in Acre Street, Lindley, Huddersfield, on August 29.

She admitted the offence when she appeared at Kirklees Magistrates Court.

She was banned from driving for two years and given a 12 month community order with 40 hours unpaid work.

She was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

Councillor McAllister, of Long Fallas Crescent, Rastrick, was Mayor in 2010 and leader of Calderdale Council from 2006 - 2008. She has been a councillor for Rastrick since 2000.
