Rastrick man accused of murdering his mum remanded in custody

A 51-year-old man has been remanded in custody at Lincoln Crown Court accused of murdering his 79-year-old mother.

Nigel Constable of Sherburn Road, Rastrick, who is charged with the murder of Betty Constable appeared in court by video link.

No plea was taken at Monday’s hearing and he was remanded in custody to appear back before the Crown Court on January 10.

Betty Constable was taken to hospital on the morning of Sunday 22 September from her bungalow home in the village of Dunholme, Lincs.

Hospital staff were concerned about what had happened to her and alerted police. An investigation began which developed into a murder inquiry after she died on Tuesday of last week.
