Officers are now investigating the possibility that Steven Overton, last seen on Thursday, December 11, at his home in Grove Lane, Harborne, may have recently travelled to Hebden Bridge.

He was reported missing by his mother and an investigation was immediately launched. The last known sighting of the 55-year-old gardener was driving his distinctive brown Vauxhall Astra 51 plate on the M5 southbound near to junction 4a, but inquiries now lead police to believe he could later have headed towards the Yorkshire town.

Sergeant Neata Simpson, from Birmingham Police, said: “This is totally out of character for Steven to go missing like this.

“His mum is very worried as are we. We just want to know that he is safe and well.”

Steven who has recently lost his father, is described as white, around 6ft tall with thinning receding hair. At the time of his disappearance it is believed that he was wearing a two toned grey anorak and cream coloured trousers.

Steven or anyone who has seen him recently should call police on 101.
