Could Halifax restaurant be named the '˜codfather' in British Takeaway Awards?

A fish restaurant in Halifax has been named as a finalist in the British Takeaway Awards.

Catch Seafood, West Vale, will battle it out to take the top title for the Yorkshire and the Humber. The winner will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in London next month.

This year has already been a successful one for the business. After starting with just two staff members and the owner, it now has a 10-strong team.

Owner Katie Parkinson said: “We always strive to go that extra yard for our customers as it’s our dream to offer the public the best and most sustainable fish stocks, cooked to perfection for them to enjoy home or away.

“I’m in every morning to inspect and prepare the stock ensuring quality is always the best it can be.

“We’re as high as kites to have made the final of the British Takeaway Awards and hope we do Halifax proud.”

The BTAs - run in association with Just Eat - are about celebrating the diverse range of cuisines available across the country.

The top five takeaways in the Yorkshire and the Humber received the most votes across two public voting periods and have made it to the star-studded national awards ceremony, hosted by comedian Rob Brydon on December 5.

To determine the winner, each of the finalists will now be marked on a mystery shopping experience, and have also been asked to provide a submission on why they deserve to win.

A panel of judges, including celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott and businesswoman and star of BBC2 Dragon’s Den Sarah Willingham, will review the results and identify the 13 regional winners and the overall victor.
