Church to recreate anniversary photo to mark 200th birthday

Blackshaw Head Methodist Chapel celebrates its 200th anniversary this year. To mark the special anniversary, history group SHED are compiling an exhibition tracing the history of the chapel, which will be on shown at this year’s village fete on September 5. A photograph, thought to be taken around 1908, has been unearthed and as part of the celebration, the church is to recreate a contemporary version of the picture. Anyone who has a connection to the building is invited to turn up at noon on Sunday. Local photographer Vanessa Kay will take the picture and there will be tea and cake, a display of some of the history exhibition and an opportunity to look at the newly decorated chapel.
