Budding young journalists create special fundraising flood magazine
Christ Church Primary School, Pellon, has run a magazine club for two years where pupils have the opportunity to write their own articles and news reports for the school’s publication.
It’s usually sold within school for 50p, but when the floods hit the children decided to make their spring edition all about the floods in Calderdale.

Hide AdJane Marriott, who runs the club on a volunteer basis with classroom assistant Mrs Able, took five pupils to Mytholmroyd to interview business owners and residents.
They also met local councillors and the flood warden and the pupils, with the youngest being just seven-years-old, have written about their experience in the flood-stricken town.
They have set themselves a target to see 500 copies at £1 each - they are currently being sold door to door, at Christ Church Pellon, Brackenbed Fisheries and the school’s coffee morning next Wednesday - March 23 - from 9.15am.
So far, they have managed to sell around 125 copies.
Jane said: “To say they are only seven to 10 years old, the questions they were asking were fantastic.
“They took it all in and have written all the articles, they have worked really, really hard on it.”
