Around 1,800 Todmorden people lose power in storm

Around 1,800 people in Todmorden have been without power since Wednesday afternoon when stormy weather brought down a power line.

Northern Powergrid said power was lost around 4.30pm, affecting homes in the Halifax Road area of Todmorden.

It was one of a number of incidents around the region where power lines were blown down by the gales.

A spokesman said it was hoped power would be restored to affected homes and businesses later today (Thursday).

“We had a fault in Todmorden last night affecting around 1,800 people and the issue was an overhead line coming down.

“Due to the weather it was difficult to carry our repairs immediately but we are working on it and hope to get power back on some time this afternoon,” she said.
