A shake-up of NHS services which could see emergency care centralised at Calderdale Royal Hospital will be discussed by MPs.

Under the plans Huddersfield’s A&E would effectively be downgraded to an “urgent care centre” and the town’s main hospital site could be knocked down.

The proposals have met an angry backlash from patients and NHS campaigners who want both towns to keep their A&E.

The 90-minute Westminster Hall debate at 2.30pm has been organised by Colne Valley MP Jason McCartney.

Huddersfield MP Barry Sheerman, Batley MP Jo Cox and Paula Sherriff, the MP for Dewsbury, are also expected to take part.
