Calderdale Covid-19 infection rates fall as health chief praises the borough

Calderdale’s case rate of people with COVID-19 fell slightly over a seven-day period.

NHS Digital figures from yesterday show the borough had 380 cases, with a case rate of 179.7 per 100,000 people from February 7 to February 13, a seven day interval figure.

That is a slight fall of six per cent on the previous period when Calderdale’s rate was 186.3 per 100,000.

The February 7 to February 13 data shows Calderdale had a 13 per cent decrease in triages – the number of calls from people who think they may have coronavirus to the various NHS lines – with 143, a triage rate of 68 per 100,000 of people.

Calderdale’s Director of Public Health, Debs Harkins, has urged people to keep up the good work in helping reduce the spread of the virus by staying at home where possible, keeping socially distance if you have to go out, not mixing with others and wearing a face covering.

The Government’s figures show the number of positive cases in each area in Calderdale for the seven days to February 10 were as follows.

Todmorden West and Cornholme, 12; Todmorden East and Walsden, 4; Hebden Bridge, 3; Mytholmroyd and Cragg Vale, 10; Ripponden, Rishworth and Barkisland, 6; Greetland and Stainland, 19; Elland, 32; Rastrick West, 16; Rastrick East, 6; Brighouse, 12; Clifton and Bailiff Bridge, 19; Hipperholme, 16; Northowram and Shelf, 11; Central Halifax and Boothtown, 37; Sowerby Bridge, 9; Sowerby and Luddenden Foot, 11; Norton Tower and Mount Tabor, 22; Savile Park, 21; Skircoat Green, 13; Southowram and Siddal, 15; Pellon East, 27; Pellon West and Highroad Well, 38; King Cross, 17; Wheatley and Ovenden West, 19; Ovenden East, 10; Mixenden, 17 and Illingworth and Ogden, 16.

The Government figures by local area are classed as Middle Super Output Areas – each has an average population of around 7,200.
