More than 300 party goers will attend a black tie dinner on Friday June 6 in support of the campaign to raise money to build Calderdale’s only special high school a new sixth form site at Halifax’s athletic track, Huddersfield Road.

The Venue, Barkisland, will be the host for the evening in which guests will enjoy a three course meal and be entertained with live music from Undercover and a comedy performance from local funny man Gareth Ewing.

There will also be a charity auction with winning lots including a week’s holiday for eight people in France and a week in a Windermere lakeside cottage.

All proceeds will go towards the construction of a new and fully accessible centre at Spring Hall for which the school must raise £1.2m towards the £2.7m build.

Ravenscliffe High School hopes the new sixth form and community centre will open in the academic 2015/16 year.

Gareth Hunter, Ravenscliffe funding co-ordinator, said: “The Spring Ball is a great way to not only bring the community together, but to raise much needed funds for our project. We’ve worked exceptionally hard to raise over £170,000 since November 2013, but that still leaves us some way short of the figure we need. The ball, along with outstanding funding applications to major grant making foundations, will hopefully go some way to addressing this shortfall.”
