Update: Police closed busy road as a precaution after accident

Commuters faced disruption at Burnley Road, Mytholmroyd, after a three-vehicle accident at 5.07 pm last night.(Tue)

The road was re-opened at 5.53 pm following the accident involving a Vauxhall Astra, Hyundai i30 and Ford Fiesta.

A police spokesman said: “It was a damage-only accident. The road was shut as a precaution due to one of the occupants of the vehicles being elderly, and to establish her wellbeing.”

The incident caused tailbacks to Luddenden Foot for motorists travelling in the Todmorden direction and to Hebden Bridge for Halifax-bound traffic.

Bus services were also delayed and re-routed.
