Living in Dubai but flying to and from the UK to attend training courses takes some serious commitment but that’s exactly what one young mum did to realise her dream of being a property developer back home.

Luckily for Kirsty Eaton, she had the full support of her husband James who shared the same goal; but even he was surprised by how far she would go – literally – to make it happen.

The sacrifices, travel and hard work they say, have all been worth it because now they’re based in the UK again and busy building up an impressive property portfolio.

It all began when the pair were visiting family in England and Kirsty spotted that a one-day course was being run by property guru Samuel Leeds – a course that will very soon be held in Bradford for the same budget-friendly price of just £1.

Investment strategies

Kirsty had seen Samuel on YouTube talking about his investment strategies and she liked what he had to say so was keen to attend. The event, however, was scheduled to take place a week after her planned return to Dubai.

Seeing the rare opportunity to learn about different options for investors, Kirsty and James decided she should postpone her flight and go.

It was after listening to Samuel and rubbing shoulders with other investors that Kirsty signed up for more England-based training. She chose an intensive course on financial freedom plus a deal-selling masterclass – letting only James in on the secret.

Flying home in secret

“That one was in November, but I was in Dubai by then,” she explains. “So I flew back to England just for that course on my own. I didn’t tell my family. I just did it in secret because I thought they would think I was mad.”

In fact, the couple already had some successful property deals under their belts and were keen to build on their existing knowledge and experience.

They first dabbled in bricks and mortar when the property market slumped a decade ago. They paid a deposit on a London apartment they were living in and rented it out when they made their move to the United Arab Emirates.

Prime location

More recently they entered the Dubai property market, buying a rundown house in a popular location and selling it at a profit thanks to their renovations and timing.

Although their jobs and lifestyle were good, the couple’s priorities changed with the arrival of their daughter and the appeal of family life back home grew stronger.

With that in mind, and bitten by the investor bug, Kirsty took decisive action and called James to say she’d enrolled with the Property Investors Academy, encouraging him to do the same.

Strong networks and support

Admittedly taken aback, James realised that they’d need a network of support after being away for so long.

And, according to Kirsty, he was absolutely right. “The best thing about the academy has been the network of people and being able to ask any of the great mentors a question, or everyone else in it doing the same things,” she says. “They just understand and they’re in the same boat.”

The pair are now working on a rundown house in Hartlepool which they’re converting to multiple occupancy. They then aim to refinance it and put the profits into another project.

Rising interest rates have helped them too and they’ve even branched out into serviced accommodation by letting a cottage near the Somerset coast as an Airbnb.

Learn all you can

“If you want to be financially free from property, then you need to look at proper strategies and educate yourself,” advises Kirsty. “Then take the action and do it because it’s the best thing we’ve ever done.”

Samuel Leeds describes the pair as a massive inspiration in the property community. “They were flying from Dubai to come to my events in London. That type of doing whatever it takes is what has got them to where they are today. And they’re still young. They can keep recycling their money and growing.”
