Update; Brighouse and Rastrick Band win regional championships

Brighouse and Rastrick Band have been crowned Yorkshire champions.

They beat off stiff competition last night(Sun) at the Yorkshire Regional Brass Band Championships held at St George’s Hall, Bradford.

Black Dyke, of Queensbury, came fourth and Hebden Bridge, recently promoted to the top championship section, were 13th.

Last year’s winners Carlton Mail Frickley Colliery finished third.

It was also a winning day for Elland Silver Band which topped the second section.

Clifton & Lightcliffe Band finished in sixth position in the first section.

And, Clifton & Lightcliffe B came top of the fourth section.

Brighouse and Rastrick and Black Dyke qualify to represent Yorkshire in the Championship Section Finals of the National Championships to be held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in October.

Elland Silver and Clifton & Lightcliffe B qualify for the Lower Section Finals of the national championships at Cheltenham Race Course in September.
