Life Stories - a double bill of one-act operas (Rest in Peace and Silent Jack) by Todmorden's Tim Benjamin - was premiered in Manchester in October last year.

It then toured Preston, Todmorden and Halifax before being performed at the Tete a Tete opera festival in London. Now Hebden Bridge opera fans will get the chance to see it when it arrives at the Little Theatre on March 4.

The operas are based on dark and gripping short stories by Anton Chekhov and Anthony Peter.

Rest in Peace: an old man wakes amid the detritus of 21st century consumerism in 2020 Moscow. Silent Jack is set 300 years before with a young woman staggering into a secret cellar somewhere in England.

“These two operas survey the lives of two very different people from very different times and places in history, ” said Mr Benjamin.
