It was the first of the Santa’s Grotto at Millers Bar last Sunday; and they also have Father Christmas in house this Sunday and the following Sunday 18 December.
Its £5 per child and booking in advance is required.
The grotto is open 1pm until 4pm.
The Red Rooster
This Saturday 8pm there is an open mic session and all are welcome to come on down to Brookfoot for Eddie Geater’s first Saturday back in charge.
He has been busy all week putting up the decorations and preparing for what he hopes will be a lively December at the hostelry.
One for diary is a week on Sunday, December 18 when Friendly Brass Band from Sowerby Bridge come in for the afternoon to play festive numbers and encourage the clientele to get into the festive spirit and engage in a carol concert that can be heard up the hill in Southowram!
Another date at the real ale house is Thursday, December 29 when Wild Turkey will be live on stage.
At the Barge this weekend they have Jam night with free pool this evening (Thursday) followed on Friday by Empress from 9.30pm.
On Saturday, Rewind will be on stage and Sunday night rock and roll comes from Pink Peg Slax.
The Holiday Inn Brighouse
The Holiday Inn Brighouse has still got some places left for Christmas Day in their restaurant.
Priced at £58 for adults, £32 for children aged 3-16 and under 3’s eat free from the Children’s menu.
There will be traditional music, a visit from Father Christmas and gifts for the children.

The New Packhorse opposite Hartshead Moor Cricket Club is having a Motown Night on Friday, December 23..
Following last year’s hugely successful Motown Night before Christmas the pub has once again booked Ultimate Voices to turn the bar into a Motown extravaganza.
The event starts at 7.30pm and it was a full house last year so arrive early!
The pub has a good reputation for its food and they feature a dish each week.
This week its Brie and Sunblushed tomato stuffed chicken, wrapped in bacon served with sauté potatoes and a tomato and basil sauce priced at £12.
They have a festive menu that is running up until Christmas Eve and is two courses for £15 and three courses £18.
They also have a Christmas Day menu which you will need to book in advance and that is being served 12-7pm as well as a special menu the day after on Boxing Day.
Tonight (Thursday December 8) at The Calder on Huddersfield Road, it’s their weekly quiz.
Hosted by Jonny and Matt they have prizes galore including the chance to win up to £500!!!
It starts 9.30pm.
Jeremy’s at the Boathouse
Its another live music weekend at Jeremy’s as they welcome Chequered from 9.30pm Friday and Professor Fonque and the All Stars will entertain on the Saturday evening.
On Sunday afternoon there will be acoustic from 4pm with Laura Erby.
