Brighouse & Rastrick Band plan to end the autumn contest season in style, not just with stunning performances on Britain’s largest stages, but to eagerly return to the Huddersfield Town Hall next month.
Almost eighteen months ago their Committee felt that another reunion with the ladies from ‘Boobs & Brass’ would be a sure winner for everyone as nobody who packed into the Town Hall in October 2008 will ever forget the splendid impression made by this bunch of pink - jacketed ladies.
Formed only in 2006 by Northants based cornet players Maggie Betts and Jane Nicholls to help the Breast Cancer Campaign in a ‘one-off’ concert, it was then seen as a very brave, if not risky, decision by B & R to have them as guests in place of a ‘big name’ band.
It was an unqualified success, however, and the two groups have maintained close ties ever since.
‘Boobs & Brass’ were quickly awash with invitations and have now raised over £140,000 for their chosen charity, and are regularly seen fund raising amongst the crowds at big events such as the ‘March Contests’ in Saddleworth and Brighouse.
Fronting the show on October 25 will be the ever-popular Alan Morrison who should prove the perfect catalyst between performers and audience.
Tickets will be on sale at Ryecorn Wholefoods, Bethel Street. on September 13 (10am til noon only) and anytime from concert secretary Graham Ward on 01484 712355.
