ALTHOUGH Park Tennis C team beat the club’s D team comfortably, all the sets were keenly contested and many of the junior players showed great promise and maturity.

This was the opening fixture of the 2012 season for the teams.

The Mixed A team have won one and drawn one.

This week they travelled up the valley to Todmorden to take on their A team.

The B team have had two excellent wins against Todmorden A and last season’s runners up, Wellholme A, but were well beaten by newly promoted Queens A. The team had a bye this week.

The ladies A & B teams both won their opening fixtures. The opening week of the men’s season fell foul of the weather, but the A team won well against Marsden A last week and the men’s B team got a creditable draw in their first actual match following last season’s promotion, against Rastrick A.

In the Bradford league, the team have made an excellent start, winning all three fixtures with ease. Last Saturday they were at Saltaire taking on Salts B.

Last Thursday night did not go well. The men’s A were well beaten by a strong Queens A side and the ladies B lost very close match with Queens B.

The Bradford League team won by three matches to one in their toughest match so far.

Park Ladies A beat Marsden 8 - 0, but a very young and inexperienced B team had a difficult evening, losing by 8 - 1, but performing well and gaining valuable match experience.

The club has also entered an under-16s team in the Huddersfield Junior League for the first time.

They have made an excellent start, winning both their fixtures so far by 8 - 0.
