OLD BRODLEIANS coach Matt Smith is keen for his team to impress when Yorkshire One rugby gives way to Yorkshire Shield action this weekend.
Smith rated his side’s performance in last Saturday’s 15-3 home win over Heath as worth seven out of 10 and is hoping for the same or better tomorrow.
The Yorkshire Carnegie player – whose team travel to Yorkshire Two leaders West Leeds – said it was important to try and build some momentum after a promising start to the season had given way to a disappointing October.
“We’re going to go for it,” said Smith. “West Leeds is the former club of our backs coach, Danny Monk.
“We have trained against them and had a pre-season game with them.
“They have always beaten us but this is a chance for us gain revenge.”
Brods have a lengthy injury list but Smith is hoping the likes of forwards Lee Scrimshaw, Peter Williams and Jamie McLachlan, plus goal kicking back Danny Wood, are on the way back.
