Brighouse Rangers travel to Huddersfield side Lindley Swifts this Saturday (2.30), for their Championship One league fixture.
The game follows last weekend’s bonding session at Skegness which chairman Dave Barnes declared a resounding success.
“It’s really galvanised our squad for our final promotion push,” said Barnes.
“It’s in Brighouse’s hands to win the league with leaders Illingworth losing away to Morley Borough.
“We have to treat every game as a cup final and all the lads are really up for it.
“Our main aim this season was to gain promotion, and with just five games to go we are three points ahead of the chasing pack and six points behind the leaders with three games in hand.
“Lindley will be tough opponents, and are better than their league position shows. We just need to stick to our game plan and give 100 per cent on Saturday, and not be complacent.
Richard Casanove has joined from from Whitehall Warriors and he will add a bit of experience and skill.
“It’s been a tough season, but all the hard work on the training field is starting to reap the rewards,”added coach Gary Barnett.
Richard Flynn’s second team are again disappointed after last week’s late cancelation by Hoyland Viking , who struggled to raise a side.
They have been given the points Saturday’s game as Garforth Town also cannot raise a side.
“It’s tough for teams especially in the lower leagues, with finances being so tight,” added Barnes. “The travelling can have a big impact on small clubs. Let’s hope Pennine ARL officials have a look at this for the start of next season.”
