Brighouse Rangers’ open age squad must have forgotten that rugby league exists as yet another Pennine League Division Three West fixture – this time away against Queensbury – was postponed last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch.

This Saturday’s game – weather permitting – is against Keighley outfit Cowling Harlequins away (2pm) with the possibility of a fixture reversal if their ground is under water.

Rangers should be able to pick from a full strength side as prop Gavin Midgley should be able to return from a broken ankle.

Brighouse’s highly successful Under-17s return to training on Wednesday, January 20 at 6pm and are looking for new players.

n FORMER Brighouse Rangers favourites Craig Young and Alex Muff – who also played for Doncaster, Barrow and Batley – are now coaching Ainley Top-based Lindley Swifts.

They received a nice Christmas present at their Birchencliffe CC headquarters when Huddersfield Giants Past Player Association representatives, Derek Wroe, Tony Johnson, Gary Senior, Rod Wright and Ken Boothroyd called in with a cheque for £500 to help pay for new kit.
